A GREEDY FISH
by OldMaster85
I was 20 miles off shore in the gulf
stream with a large school of small dolphin around the boat eagerly taking
my baits. Two larger dolphin grabbed two different baited lines and
I found myself hooked up on two different rods.
I put one rod in the rod holder and
fought the smaller of the two fish. The larger fish on the rod in
the holder was about 200 feet out away from the boat. After I landed my
first fish I picked up the second rod in the rod holder. As I picked
up the second rod I saw the head of a big bull dolphin a few feet behind
the boat and watched as it grabbed a separate baited line that was
floating behind the boat. I leaned back, struck the fish and felt
the hook up. Attempting to hold on to two lines at the same time, I
told my buddy that I had two fish on and asked him to pick up one of them.
Imagine my surprise when I found that
the bull on the line trailing the boat was THE SAME FISH THAT HAD BEEN IN
THE SECOND ROD HOLDER. Apparently, it swam towards the boat and took
the trailing bait. It had taken two separate baits. Talk about
a greedy fish!
This bull tipped the scale at 32
pounds. We removed both hooks, weighed it and then released our
greedy friend.
